A diploma offers industry-focused training with real job outcomes. While many people opt for bachelor’s and master’s degrees, the time and cost implications may not be a workable option for you. A diploma offers you the chance to gain industry-recognised qualifications in a shorter time frame and at a lower cost.

What is the difference between a diploma and a degree?

There are several differences between a diploma and a degree:

  • Time. A bachelor’s degree could take four years to complete, and a master takes a further two years. A diploma can take between 1-2 years to complete. You can complete the DLM at CAC in 1 year.
  • Enrollment. There are more enrollment options with a diploma. Whereas a degree only offers registration at the beginning or midway through the year, there are multiple enrollment points available with the diploma. At CAC, you can enroll in January, April, July, and October. Or, if you are onshore, then monthly intakes are available.
  • Cost. A degree program can cost between $15,000 – $30,000 (roughly) per year, whereas the DLM at CAC costs $12,000, including admission fees. All Vocational Educational Training programs usually cost less than university courses and can be completed in less time.
  • Level. A degree is a higher-level qualification than a diploma. However, diploma graduates may find it easier to gain employment due to their industry-focused training.
